Discover Marrakech with TripAdvisor travel guides

Majorelle Garden, the product of over forty years of loving conception of the artist Jacques Majorelle is an oasis amid the bustling streets of Marrakech.

Far from the noise and bustle of the souks and the Medina, ease into your holiday with a stroll around the small but intensely local charm, where the paths are shaded by palm trees, exotic plants and traditional architecture point of each corner the blue mosaic Azur and the bright yellow tiles will delight the senses and cactus plants, lotus flowers and water lilies paint a living landscape. The majestic flora nested beautiful birds who call their song as you walk. Streams, ponds and fountains also give the garden a cool, calm, and after taking in the beautiful scenery, you can visit the on-site café, for a tea and your members to rest before continuing your journey.

The Ecomuseum Berbere is located inside the Jardin Majorelle and highlights the Berber culture in the region. It has a general collection of art and artifacts, as well as rotating exhibitions. Once a painter workshop, the small space now offers an intimate home videos describing to the Berber daily life mannequins in traditional dress and jewelry and informative blurbs on indigenous people and their stories. Worth the visit to truly enjoy Marrakech and rural townships that surround it.

A few minutes walk from the Majorelle Garden, the medina of Marrakech is one of the biggest draws of the city and the most grandiose of all the Berber market places in Morocco. A swarming Trade Centre, the souks in the medina sell goods ranging from carpets to leather, pottery, jewelry, spices lanterns, and more. Moreover, snakes, monkeys and donkeys with loaded carts are added to the mix of traffic. Visit to have a mint tea, browse food and traditional goods and soak up the surrounding architecture and colorful stands. Do not forget to bargain!

advice
Beware of thieves in this area, on foot or by bike. Keep your items carefully and be especially careful when you remove your wallet or mobile phone.
As the medina can be a bit dizzying, your hotel can recommend a guide for excursions. Know that often guides work with sellers and take you to specific stalls.
Sellers in shops and stalls can be very aggressive. Feel free to browse, but try not to engage vendors, unless you really want to buy something to avoid a feeling of intimidation.
Know that often take photographs or with an animal (a capuchin monkey or snake) will cost you. Ask the price before time.
Haggling is traditional souks. If you do not like a price after negotiation, feel free to walk away. Often this will get your price down. But trying to be fair!

New president in Venice, Palazzo begins this month

Las Vegas Sands is getting a new president for his band stations.

John Caparella, president of the Venetian and the Palazzo since 2011, is leaving next month, today confirmed the Sands. Sands spokesman Ron Reese Caparella “leaves to seek new career opportunities” but would not elaborate.

Caparella will be replaced by George Markantonis, who recently was the senior officer of the Atlantis resort in the Bahamas. It starts at the Venetian and Palazzo March 17, said Reese.

Markantonis has decades of hospitality experience, including 16 years with the hotel chain and Westin resort.

It was once Vice President of rooms and later vice president of hotel operations at Caesars Palace.

The sands parent company, led by billionaire Sheldon Adelson, also controls the properties in Pennsylvania, Macau and Singapore.

Venetian-Palazzo Resort, Las Vegas : Review

you get when you cross the city of Venice with the extravagance of Palazzo Versace, then both Pinard in the Nevada desert? Either the best or the worst of both worlds collide.
Juddery Brand went to Vegas to find out who.

Venetian-Palazzo Resort in Las Vegas five star promotes itself as the world’s largest resort, and if you expect the natural elements such as beaches, which tend to expand the resort properties – this claim appears to be true.

The Venetian was great when it opened in 1999 and now has 4027 suites.

The addition of the adjoining Palace in 2008 meant another 3066 suites, many of them with three or more TVs, fully stocked work centers and a bathroom all marble with a TV of their own (in case those in the living area was not enough).

Sure, it is great wealth – at a price remarkably well – but stay in one of these suites really make you happy? Answer: who cares? If I want spiritual fulfillment, I will go to Tibet.

For thrill seekers meaningless glitz nobody quite like Vegas – and while the exterior of the complex is screaming because the suites are designed with more taste than you might expect.

In my room (like many, but not all, of the others), generous rest area was connected by a few steps to a work area / living / dining “down” big enough for a cocktail.

In a resort of this size, the large lobby occasionally resembles an airport counter uniquely decorated, though the friendly staff has now down to a fine art, ensuring that – if you are happy to continue your own bags – you’ll be in your room before you know it. Just go through the casino (see how it works?) To the elevator.

Other hotel facilities are generally very impressive. The Canyon Ranch SpaClub offers not only spa and fitness centers, but also physical therapy, nutrition counseling, gait analysis for runners and the Canyon Ranch Café, a glam health bar.

Only pools are a disappointment because they are either decorative, making it unsuitable for actual swimming or open a few hours a day – which is perfect if you plan to sleep until noon.

Of course, exercise is probably not the most common recreational activity in Las Vegas, it is churlish to complain.

Vegas is not the beaches, of course, but it is still synonymous with entertainment and crazy-the scene of countless adult Hollywood movies and TV shows, showing enormous fun people gathered around a roulette wheel .

Casino 9755m 2 of the station includes 1400 gaming machines and 139 table games, then you have many choices in how to waste your money.

For all the clichés, Vegas would not be so popular for the holidays if it had only gambling dens. Passage for a conference, I made sure that I took part in some of the animation of the offer, but I did not make any of the things your mother would warn you against.

Although I was there for three days, I did not play, see a drag queen (to my knowledge), watch a tribute show or getting married soon – Elvis or somebody else – and only one Once was a funky nightclub at the Venetian-Palazzo … when I thought the queue was for the show of Blue Man Group. Which is why I had to show my ID.

As well as the casino, the lower floors of the Venetian-Palazzo is a boutique assortment, great restaurants (including Wolfgang Puck’s CUT, grill to Valentino and celebrity-magnet TAO Asian Bistro), nightclubs and popular shows. This is the Pentagon stations.

You could spend a week here without ever going outside. When I mentioned will also a member of the staff seemed surprised: “Why would you go elsewhere? “She was joking, I think, but she had a point.

The two structures, shooting in the skyline, each of the M620 are other buildings anywhere else, but it is The Strip in Las Vegas, where many buildings are outrageously large and bright. Times Square Photo New York, only less subtle.

Perhaps the most interesting part of the Venetian-Palazzo Resort … Well,

Vacation Lessons from the Griswolds

We suspect that you'll never get near the blunders committed by Clark Griswold and his family in holiday movies starring Chevy Chase. Here, some real life lessons Griswolds learned the hard way, so you do not have to!
As summer winds to a close and children head back to school, we can not help but daydream about our next family vacation. And when we think of a family vacation, we can not help but to think and laugh at the antics that Clark Griswold and his family made famous in the 80s classic, National Lampoon vacation. Here's a journey into the past of Griswolds - and some real tips on how not to go as a National Lampoon!

Traveling with Grandma? Be ready ! Nobody really knows why Aunt Edna Griswolds kicked the bucket in the back seat, but it is possible that she forgets to take his medication. Do not forget to renew prescriptions before departure and bring a copy of your prescription, just in case it gets lost on the way.

Take time to enjoy the scenery. Remember when the Griswolds arrived in the Grand Canyon and Clark (aka "Sparky") gave a nod and say "Great! "Before turning around and hitting the road at all? While it was on the run for other reasons (see below), but if tourism is on your agenda, be sure to build in time to see the sights in their entirety.

Road trip? Time for a tune up. Nothing says setbacks quite like a break in the roadside. And no family has suffered setbacks quite like the Griswolds, especially after they missed the sign "Road Closed" and the family car takes off before reaching a bumpy landing in the desert. Before taking the road for the long haul, refresh the basics: change your oil, the liquid fill your wiper and make sure that you are ready for the elements wherever the road may take you.

Fold always a swimsuit. You never know when an attractive pool arises. While Rusty and Audrey were disappointed by the pool filled with algae by the Grand Canyon, Clark could not resist water (or Christie Brinkley) later in the trip. To avoid embarrassing snafus skinny-dipping - and / or your spouse screaming from the balcony - always bring your bathing suit ... and save your birthday suit for the home.

Avoid lines at the theme parks. Remember when the Griswolds finally arrived at Walley World? The lot was empty, the hymn "Chariots of Fire" swelled to a crescendo ... and then came to a grinding halt when they realized that the park was closed .... Closed! All those miles, all for nothing. Do not let this happen to you. There are better ways to avoid long lines - and major renovations. Check site for your destination before you go and consider buying the "express" pass many parks that offer to make sure you will not disappoint your own little Rusty and Audrey.

Do not take for an answer. If there is a great lesson from the Griswolds is not to leave two little letters stand in your way. NO They faced it when looking for directions; Clark faced when they ran out of money and they faced it when they arrived at Walley World. But it did not stop them. And it should not stop you either. This is a good reminder that it never hurts to ask - for the room upgrade for the AAA discount for the free dessert. You may just end up with a private tour of the world Walley - or Fribble a friendly match home. Anyway, it pays (politely) to contest a no.

Refer to company policy. As you know, the poor dog Aunt Edna met her creator somewhere on the side of Route 66. With its wicked annoying barking and biting, it was not much to make friends, but still, no dog should have to follow the way he did. Recognizing that everyone can love your four-legged friend, do your research before you go; Make sure Fido is welcome at the campsite, rest area, hotel, and with family members, you will meet on your way. If it does not, sign him to doggy day camp while taking the open road.

Always bring some backup cash. Or credit. After Clark and Ellen White money was stolen and cards were lost, they were left up a creek. Or, more precisely, on the side of a canyon. The Grand Canyon. Without two nickels call their own. Clark solved this dilemma by sliding the money from the register of the hotel; If the flight is not your thing (and we do not recommend it!), Be sure to have a backup plan. Store 800 numbers, you need to order replacement cards from your phone or, if you wish, you can keep a copy of your card (front and back) hidden in the depths of your suitcase. This way you can be sure that the shot to bring you home is one of a beautiful view, not a rant.

Visit cousins? Plan activities appropriate to their age that will be fun for all. If you recall, visit the Griswolds with Cousin Eddie, family vacations do not always go together. While the children were introduced to the pot and porn, Clark was recalled that Hamburger Helper "did not need any help at all." To ensure that all the band has a good time, plan ahead find local attractions that will keep everyone committed - and trouble.

Confirm your accommodation. After a long day on the road, you need a place to rest your weary head. For our friend Clark and his progeny, there are times the pool was green and the bed was vibrating and pay ...! If that's not your thing, do your homework. Check online reviews, make some calls and ask your social circles (off and online) for suggestions. You'll be glad you when you bite into a soft bed at the end of a long day trip rather than cram in a sleeping bag as Clark and Ellen.

If in doubt, channel your inner Griswold and sing, sing, SING! Whether Walley World theme song or a rousing rendition of "Mockingbird", nothing says family fun as a sing-along ... even if mom and dad are the only ones to sing!
